I have used Aquarium Pharm. nitrate, GH and KH test kits with good results.
The Aq. Pharm. nitrate kit does not give very specific with low readings,
but will indicate Nitrate concentrations that are fairly high.

After thirty years of guessing or going cheap, I finally broke down and
bought the Lamotte Iron, Nitrate, CO2, and Phosphate test kits. I am glad I
did. I wish I had earlier.
