Sounds like you have a leak in your CO2 system. Even sugar and
yeast alone should produce CO2 longer than a couple of
hours. Check all points where a leak could possibly compromise
the system. Soapy water apparently works well for this purpose. Do
you have a valve to help regulate the flow? Even those lame fish
store  valves will do the trick. This will keep the gas from
blowing off to quickly. If your mixture still doesnt last long
enough than try experimenting with additives like bicarb and/or
whole wheat flour.
