plaster of paris

Hi from Canada:

I vaguely remember reading somewhere in "The Krib" that plaster of paris
can be used as a source of calcium sulphate to be used in buffer
solutions for reconstituting RO water.

If memory serves doesn't plaster of paris also contain calcium
carbonate? I have no idea of the proportions of the two.

Can anyone shed light as to wether using plaster of paris is a good or
bad idea or suggest implications, recommendations etc?

Thanks
Martyn
