Optimum current in planted tank

I have noticed that when I clean out the filter the flow rate, and thus,
circulation increases the rate of bubbling from the plants also increases.
CO2, I have been told diffuses 10000 times slower in water than it does in
air. However, if the circulation of water (which contains CO2) is
increased the diffusion rate increases and the CO2 is more available to the
plants. To increase biological filtration would be presumably to help
remove ammonia and nitrates from the water. As I understand it this is
what plants do and do better when there is more CO2 available to them. I
actually add nitrates to the tank with the PMDD mix. So unless your
nitrates are particularly low I would go for circulation increase.
