Another thing that will help is to put the rags in a bowl in vinegar and
microwave them to heat them up (be careful handling the rags now).  The hot
vinegar will react much more quickly with the deposits than if it were
cool.

This is also a great way of removing scale from bathtubs and coffee makers.
