Dealing with hard water
Thanks again to all those who responded. Several people responded that a
water softener plus RO unit should work fine and the sodium introduced by
the softener would not harm the membrane. One person suggested that the
sodium was not a problem for the fish and plants, and that the RO unit is
probably not necessary, and one person suggested that the softener was not
necessary and I should just use RO.
A net.vendor pointed me to the Kent Marine web site, and I have left mail
for them asking just what is and is not okay for the membrane in their RO
units. Will copy the answer here if it is interesting.
Frank.
