Strange inflorescence

My Aponogeton boivinianus has bloomed, but the single stalk terminates
in two flower spikes--i.e., it is forked, like a capital Y. Is this
typical? They are both the same size. All my other Apons have one
     flower spike per stalk.

This plant is amazing in that it was just a bulb 4 weeks ago. Now, in
addition to the bloom it has numerous 24"-30" leaves. It's not so
bushy it shades out lower plants, though. What a great plant!
