Mixing stuff with the gravel

I do not know if I do this because I "read the directions," or because it
made sense to ME - but I always mix the "stuff" into the gravel, then TOP
that gravel with about an inch of "clean" gravel.  This keeps the Laterite,
etc., in the substrate where it belongs.  It probably makes quite a mess, if
whatever you are adding is in the UPPER layer of the gravel!

It generally takes a Diatomaceous Earth Filter to get finely divided clay
particles out of the water.  Or, you might try a flocculating agent like
Nalidixic Acid.  ?? Geo Liquid ??
