Yes, there ARE Laterite soils in the USA. Check with your local College or University with the Agronomy folks, also the Forestry folks. Laterites develop under forest cover. They are somewhat similar to Podzol soils. Also, a List subscriber in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area sells an EXCELLENT artificial Laterite. Someone on the List will surely jump in and give you the correct address. I have mislaid it!
