Claudio Dioguardi asked about the suitability of Pterygoplichthys gibbiceps as an algae-eater in an 80 gallon tank. The problem is that this fish could grow to 50 cm or so according to Baensch. Smaller, delicate plants are likely to be crushed or uprooted as this fish scavenges the bottom. I've never noticed my 25 cm specimen eating an plants. It cleans some algae from the glass. -- Dave Whittaker ac554 at FreeNet_Carleton.ca
