Java Moss reproduction via spores

Hi everyone,

Last night, while feeding one of my smaller tanks, I noticed something
that I haven't seen in years. The tank has a fairly robust mound of Java
Moss (Vesicularia dubyana) growing attached to a small piece of
driftwood. Java Moss is a true moss and I know that as a class they
reproduce via spores. Well, my submerged Java Moss has sprouted hundreds
of spore capsules. I've seen this often on terresterial mosses but never
seen in on Java Moss in any of my other tanks. Does anyone know if these
spore cases will produce viable spores underwater?

Thanks,
