Re: correcting error



Jason wanted to know about cichlids in a ten gallon tank and David
responded with alternative choices plus reference literature.

Read the current issue (September 1996) of Aquarium Fish Magazine.  There
is a great article in there, "Fish First" by S. Lynne Hudson.  The author
disputes the gallon of water for each inch of fish rule and claims that
what you really want is 3 gallons of water for inch of fish - unless the
fish are of a small, slim variety.  That would certainly rule out cichlids
as your choice of fish.

Also the author stresses that the important thing is the size of the fish
as adults, not as young fish.  That definitely restricts you to White
clouds, cardinal tetras, neons, etc...
