Well, I live in Texas so maybe that's the only place it's sold.  It's a very
fine gravel that's a brown-red color.  It's usually sold in 50 lb bags for
about $8.  I like it cause it's cheap, looks better than aquarium gravel,
and doesn't buffer the water at 8.0 (I'm about to get discus too)
