Subject: Reducing the water lily population

This description sounds like "Cercarial Dermatitis" which is a reaction to
the tiny larvae of a fluke (from a parasite of water birds e.g. ducks,
herons etc). These larvae burrow into the skin and die causing an intensely
irritating rash. Although the rash will go after a week or two the skin
will remain sensitised and further exposure to the parasite may result in
an even more intense response.

Subject: Tiger lotus
<<I have a quick question about tiger lotus, I gave one of my pups away to
a friend of mine about 4 months ago. It did the usual thing and took a
while to get going, however it has taken off now and flowered. I was
wondering how common it is to have these plants flower.>>
I have had both pink and green forms flower in my aquarium in the first
year it was set up when the substrate was "richer" than now. I assumed it
was mainly due to the light supplied ( 3x40W HG tubes for 12 hours per
day).
