Take my suggestion - forget all chemical solutions, taking
out the plant won't do much, either (the spores are
invisible in other places already, I guarantee it) and do
everything you can to get a SAE. I've never seen a result
like I've had with the SAE. Four SAEs cleaned up a tank full
of hair-algae-infected Hygrophilas within 2 days and now
there is not even a trace of hair algae left, and in another
tank, where I had 2-inch-long hair algae on my Echinodorus
major, one SAE removed it in a week, and now only some
leaves have a black border around it which the SAE keeps at
that level. I've tried many things, but taking the SAE
suggestion, I'll never go for anything else!
