	It isn't plastic.  Zeolites are aluminosilicates with very
"open" crystal frameworks of Al, Si and O atoms, into which positive
ions such as Na+, K+, Ca++ fit.  These ions can be exchanged quite
readily, hence our interest in these materials.  There are both
natural zeolites and synthetic ones (and some of the naturally
occurring ones have been synthesized).
