Re: Aquatic Plants Digest V1 #147



  You have done a great job of describing, I think, fresh water HYDRA.  
At one time I kept a tank infested with them for the purpose of suppling 
local schools with samples.  They feast on live brine shrimp young and 
will turn a red color at the base when they catch the newly hatched 
shrimp.  When few well the hydra will multiply quickly.  With typical 
food available in a regular aquarium they will probably die out.
