Mailing list vs. Newsgroup

While I am all in favor of giving Shaji a break from his arduous task, I 
think that our mailing list gets more attention (and respect) from its 
members than do the various .aquaria newsgroups.  I feel almost compelled to 
participate in this list setting since the mail comes to *me*, not the 
entire Internet world.  But, of course, if everyone currently in on this 
list plans to continue participating if we switch, then the result can 
only be, by definition, additional participation by current non-list 
people.  And that, in my opinion, would be beneficial.  I, for one, don't 
mind quickly skipping the pathetic calls for get-rich-quick-schemes.
