Though I appreciate traffic of most kinds on the APD, discussing the
morality of feeding fish is not really relevant to Aquatic Plants, is pointless
and has been beaten to death several times that I recall in the past 17
years.

I suddenly feel guilty about feeding innocent CO2 atoms to my plants.

"Is it your argument that the EU is in as much economic trouble as the
United States, and that this trouble is caused by animal welfare laws?"

It's safe to say that most economists believe that the EU countries are in
much worse economic trouble than is the US, and much of that has come from
the overly-generous social welfare policies of the last 60 years. Animal
"rights" laws are a small part of those policies, but their costs add up.
