Is it your position that if your arm was removed that it wouldn't be a negative thing as long as you were under anesthesia when it actually happened? To make the assumption that a dog would not miss their tail in the same way you would miss your arm would make one guilty of the same thing those opposed to the procedure are accused of (assuming the ability to divine the feelings of another animal).

Well I don't buy that. They are under anethesia, they don't feel anything. 
Its no more invasive than getting your ears pierced. You may not agree with 
the practice but you can not justify it having any adverse affect on the 
animal. Any surgical proceedure would be tramatic to them under that 
premise! I thought about cropping my dogs ears and tail, but I love his 
floppy ears and long tail!
