I should have put the subject line in my previous post, I forgot.
 
Ryu asked about using a pH controller to raise his pH. I was thinking and have this question for Ryu:
 
What pH are you aiming for and what are you going to keep in the tank? Is there something there that will drive the pH down if no dosing in the basic direction is performed?
 
I keep Lake Tanganyikan fish and use a carbonate based substrate and rocks. I use Seachem Lake salts when making water changes. I use their buffers too to bring the pH up to about 8 to 8.5. It stays very stable. There are a lot of plants which will do well in hard water.
