Nice pictures. That trap looks like it works pretty well.
It may not be a perfect solution, but it looks like it has a low 
frustration factor.

I would go a step further and replace the string with a stiff narrow 
wire or fiberglass rod. This would allow me to easily insert and remove 
from the back of my tank without pulling the top of my tank off.

I may give it a try.
