[APD] Silicates Leaching from Aquarium Glass?

I had never heard of that, but after Googling I find that at least some
people believe that it does.

Assuming that to be true, do you think that the amount that is leached would
be significant enough to cause the growth of certain silicate-loving algaes?

Also, continuing with that assumption, could enough silicates be removed to
affect the strength of the glass?  If so, do you think that the aquarium
would crumble all at once or would little pin-prick sized holes develop
first?
