If you have calcium deposits they can be removed with a razor blade on
glass.  For acrylic pouring a bit of vinegar in the bottom, sticking vinegar
soaked paper towels to the sides and covering the whole tank tightly with
plastic wrap then leaving it for a week should allow you to wipe it off.

Muriatic acid can be safely handled out of door if you wear some thick
rubber gloves and are careful.
