Provided I didn't read Tom's post incorrectly, I believe he was 
accounting for that by using degassed water that had been sitting in a 
barrel for some time. Which does appear to make it reasonable to suppose 
the cause for the "pearling" comes from the atmosphere.   Beyond that it 
seems open to experimentation and postulation.
