As long as all you want to do is control snails, rather than  perform 
molluscacide on a massive scale, just put a piece of zucchini in  and it will be 
covered with snails in a few hours.  Take it out, discard  the snails, and put it 
back in the tank.  Repeat until the snail level is  where you want it.  Easy, 
no fuss, no muss, cheap, and no chemicals.
