Re: [APD] Ballast electronic or magnetic?

T8s are the mainstay of the flourescent bulb industry. T8s are mass produced for commercial installation in office bldg.s, etc. So they can be had quite cheaply. And they've been a key part of the retail market for a couple of decades. So there is a wide variety of bulbs available at diff prices. Quality varies too. You have to shop around even if you get recs on a particular model. You can get regular white bulbs for a few bucks each and you can use these to grow plants.

The 40watt u-tube compact fluorescents have sort of begun to take off as the likely successor to the T8s in commercial use. So the 55w and 98w bulbs aren't so likely to ever be produced in the same quantities as T8s or be available for the same kinds of prices.

I'm going to pick up two 2-bulb 32 watt T8 fixtures tomorrow from Home Depot.

When using this type of lighting is one bulb any cheaper than the other?

Any suggestions?

Thanks for the help,
Bill
