Re: [APD] "Coal Grunter"

Hello Gay,

A coal Grunter is a very nice, but a little aggressive small perch like fish
found across the top of Australia. They are called grunters because of a
small croaking noise some make when removed from the water. There is a
photo of one on the ANGFA data base http://db.angfa.org.au and nine places
where they have been found. The places where they were found have
information about water quality and habitat.

I have one here at present and because Ken McDougall noticed his eats snails
I will put my Coal Grunter to work today in my plant ponds. I hope it
doesn't rip up the plants. There are breeders here in Australia that
occasionally have this fish in numbers and occasionally these fish would be
available for export. If they are good snail removers it may be a good
reason to use them in places where a clown loach has let you down as in my
case.

Cheers
Dave
