One winter I failed to add a booster to the algacide in our swimming pool.
Upon removing the cover in late spring we discovered the most magnificent
growths of spirogyra I have ever seen -- some clumps were 5 feet long.


I confess that I took the easy way out of shocking the pool with chlorine
rather than dosing NO3 and CO2.  ;-)
