The reports I have heard are that you cannot *keep* them in open-top tanks, only temporarily store them there until they decide to leave. It seems that the more skittish they feel, the more likely one of them will take the "great  leap of faith" and assert its will.

Thanks a ton for your reply. BTW, I would love to keep these fishes but many
people have suggested that they are jumpers and one shouldn't keep them in
open top tanks. Has anybody have had an experience of keeping them in open
top tanks?
