;-)  More likely you've seen it in early and still attractive stages of collapse. What doesn't sell quickly gets tossed and replaced with the next weeks shipment. So the transformation to genuine detritus is not really noticed.

I'm not sure as I've never really messed with them.  That said, I have
seen hornwort in hundreds of LFS tanks growing under what I would
consider to be very low light.
