Almost all of the continental United States is at some significant risk 
of a major earthquake. It's just that the minor ones happen a lot in 
California and so we get the reputation and attention. The news media 
always overreacts to earthquakes making them seem so horrible when they 
are mostly minor. The danger of property loss, injury, or death from an 
earthquake is minuscule in comparison to those same risks presented by 
hurricanes and tornadoes.
