As I understand Tom's hypothesis, BBA spores will start growing if 
either too little CO2 is in the water, or if there is an NH4 spike - 
something probably programmed in its DNA.  So, correcting those two 
conditions will stop the growth of new spores, but not kill existing 
BBA.
