Re: [APD] Soil master black/charcoal in Sacramento

In my admittedly limited experience, fish seem calmer in a tank with a
darker substrate. I have one small tank with fine monterey sand that I
think it gorgeous but the fish are a little jumpy in it. I had a nearly
white sand tank that I mixed a load of garnet grit into just to calm down
the fish.

I've had kribs in black/near black, whitish and reddish substrate tanks, all
planted, and they are much more intensely colored over the black/near black
substrate. Other people have told me similar things about other cichlids.
One of the LFS puts deep purple foil on the back of their tanks for the same
reason. Don't know if anyone has researched this.
