I had two clown loaches in a 125 gallon tank, with the tank badly 
infested with snails.  I never did see a loach eat a snail, but one day 
I noticed I couldn't find a single snail, and from then on, no snails 
were ever visible.  The loaches grew to about 4 inches and ended up 
sold back to the LFS when I had to get rid of the tank.
