[APD] Leonardite.. and Dupla Root (?)

Somewhere along the lines I missed out on info for leonardite.  Is this just a clay deposit peculiar to a certain part of the US, and you guys are harvesting from the backyard?  Or is it a commercially available product?  Or... ?  I'm curious, because laterite hasnt been helpful to me for my plant applications lately.  

Also.. I found Dupla Root substrate fertilizers at an LFS, really old looking boxes, granular looking pellets for the ferts.  Is this stuff any good?  Say.. better than Seachem substrate tabs?  I looked through the box info and couldnt find any NPK or micronutrients information so I hedged on it.
