I guess the question is, how can you clear the memory before letting it 
call home once in awhile to get software updates? On my sister's unit, 
it will "remind" you to plug it in to a phone line. The reminders get 
progressively more intrusive as time goes on. At least that's what my 
sister reports. Oh well, now this is getting way beyond this group. Of 
course, maybe I'm looking into recording some research channel episodes 
on aquatic plants ;)
