I'm using an Eheim 2028 which does have media trays. I suppose the CO2 
could be bypassing the trays, but it seems more likely the burps are from a 
little build-up of CO2 at the top of the impeller housing. I don't like 
seeing equipment in the tank so I'll pass on this particular experiment 
with a separate reactor. Heck, I'm on a quest for -water- that I can't see, 
in a planted tank, with goldfish...
