Yep, you got it, add a known amount of Baking soda, to a known amount of water.
You can make one for 1-2-3-4-5, whatever you desire.
 
Then you 'll know which pesky test kit is right and which is wrong.
 
That's the good thing about the plants, they do not lie. Test kits need checked if plan on relying on them and making changes.
