Re: [APD] Glass myths

There are at lest 2 kinds of "self-cleaning" glass. One
kind, hydrophillic, attracts water into sheets, so rain
tends to wash the windows in sheets of water instead of
drops.

The other, with super thin surface film of microcrystalline
titantium dioxide, which, when excited by UV rays, sort of
dissolves the organic enough that it loses some of its hold
on the glass.

The Pilkington stuff sounds like the photocatalytic
variety.

It might be nice to try a small piece in an aquarium to see
if it has any toxicity and if biofilm or spot algae
develops less quickly.
