I can't tell from your picture, but what you describe is Staghorn algae.
It's pretty easy to get rid of. Just dose KNO3 and KH2PO4 on a regular
basis and you should be rid of it in about a month.

Has a center thin stalk that grows in a long chain.  Short thin branches
that come off it and on these are what looks to almost be hyrdas with
multiple tiny arms comming off from a center point. There seems to be a
small round green body/ball at the other end of this arm cluster.
