If you are using compact fluorescents and runnng them on
ballasts meant for them, then I'd recommend using them at
least 18 months unless you have very low lighting to begin
with, say less than 1.8 watts per gallon.

As with all light bulbs, the output does decline over time.
However, the rate of decline is steadily less over time.

You should have not problem running AHS bulbs for 18
months.
