It is true that many of the posters to Ms. Walstad's AB forum have problems
with their soil-based tanks.  But many posters to this and other forums have
problems with their high light tanks.  And I've read posts from a few people
who have problems with Tom's EI method.

People who don't have problems with their tanks post far less frequently
than those who do.

I have two soil-based tanks.  One looks pretty good and requires only an
occasional pruning; the other, after a great start, has become a royal PITA.
(BTW, both use the same kind of soil substrate and have the same lighting.)

All tanks are different.  At least the dirt people don't have to worry about
getting the perfect needle valve.  <g>
