[APD] Alligator Gar

Alligator gars can get huge.  I work at an aquarium and we have two that are around 7 feet long.  You might want to try a spotted gar (Lepisosteus oculatus) which only get 2 an half feet long or a shortnose gar (Lepisosteus platostomus) which only get about 2 feet long.  There are also "garlike" fish like the needlefish (Xenentodon cancila).  There are also the halfbeaks (family Hemiramphidae) which look kind of like tiny gars.  Hope this helps.
