They do produce bulbs, but they will detach from the bulbs.  All the
ones I have originally came from 3 bulbs.  I have been trading them for
years with no sign of stopping.  Sometimes when I move one of the big
ones, there will be several little bulbs attached to the roots, they can
eb separated and replanted.
