For those who have asked, no, I'm not going to add KNO3 to this unplanted tank.  That's one of the things Greg Watson made quite clear when I told him what I wanted it for.  Where did I get the notion?  From Tom Barr's statement something to the effect that one of the solutions to BGA was "KNO3, KNO3, KNO3".  I'm certain now that Tom was referring to ONLY planted tanks.  At the time I wasn't so sure.  Chalk it up to another of Fran's "senior moments". :)
