I use gravity to siphon my frog tank but was always
afraid of sucking a frog into the tube.  Now, I have a
square sponge with a small cut into its center that I
can slip onto the end of the hose.  Now I just unplug
the heater, throw the hose and sponge into the tank,
walk away and siphon it near dry.
