I just got back from my local Big 5 Sporting Goods store, where, yes,
I found a mylar solar blanket. It was $4, but they also had a deluxe
version for $10, for those wanting the very best reflector on their
fish tank. The wood framework for the reflector is now half finished,
so soon we will find out if this joint exercise in beating AH's price
and quality (ok, just price) is successful.

I've seen (and once had one) "emergency blankets" that are made of

mylar, and come in a very manageable (small blanket-sized) size.
They can be
found in camping/outdoors departments in stores (walmart probably has
them, if
not, any outdoors store) in little packages for about $2. Not sure
if they are
as highly reflective as potato chip bags, but I think they are, and
it would
certainly be easier than saving potato chip bags.
