Probably a good point. Much easier to extract two big chunks of glass from 
the tank than a hundred little pieces :-)

Pyrex is *expensive*. Tends to be yellowish too, although I suppose one 
could compensate for that by using a higher color temperature bulb. Maybe a 
10000K would appear to be a 6700K after going through 1/8" of Pyrex? Hmm...
