RE: [APD] Re: Snot in a bottle

That is a pretty good tool. I gives you total quantities for all the stuff
you put in.

It would be better (for me anyway) if it included calculations for Potassium
Bicarbonate. I use the bicarb principally to increase the KH (alkalinity).
Since I don't need the additional calcium (rock hard water already), I use
the potassium bicarbonate.

I know it sounds strange to have hard water with low alkalinity. I dilute
the tap water with RO water because my fish (cardinal tetras) prefer softer
water. I have to add the carbonates because when I get the GH down to
acceptable levels, the KH is too low. A good portion of the hardness is due
to Ca and Mg sulfate.

No, Chuck's calculator does not give calculations for CSM+B Plantex...

However, the fertilator at APC does:

If you use Chuck Gadd's calculator:

http://www.csd.net/~cgadd/aqua/art_plant_dosage_calc.htm

Enter '1' in the place where it asks for the number of
milliliters of 'Amount of water to mix with'. That will tell you
the result of dosing any quantity in its dry form. No mixing, no
snot in a bottle. I dose my 90 in the sump, my 60 straight into
the tank. If you can't stand the sight of the fish tasting it and
spitting it out, mix it in a glass of water and pour that in.
